Simulating Disaster: Six local schools participate in HCRIÇà¹ÏÊÓÆµ™s mock earthquake exercise

The Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) welcomed high school students from across Greater Manchester for its annual Young People in Humanitarianism Conference.

On 13 May, HCRI hosted its annual youth conference, welcoming students from six local schools for a simulation exercise about disaster preparedness and response.

Our guests participated in workshops about the role of the media, stakeholder responses, and post-disaster distribution of aid, in the context of a mock earthquake in the Manchester area.

The event Çà¹ÏÊÓÆµ“ titled Young People in Humanitarianism Conference - was led and delivered by Dr Martin Parham and a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate HCRI students.

The participating schools were East Manchester Academy, Cedar Mount Academy, Reddish Vale High School, Sale High School, Manchester Academy, Grange School.
